GAA and Sport on IPTV in Ireland: How the Rights Are Split

This is the question we are asked most often, and it deserves a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. Irish sports rights are split across several holders, and no single subscription — ours included — carries all of it.

The short answer

GAA coverage in Ireland is divided between free-to-air broadcasters, subscription broadcasters and the GAA's own streaming service, with the split changing by competition and by stage. A licensed IPTV service can only carry what it is licensed for. Any provider claiming complete coverage of every fixture for a few euro a month has not bought those rights.

Why no one service has it all

Sports bodies sell rights in packages, split by competition, by stage of a competition and sometimes by individual fixture. That is a commercial choice designed to maximise value, and it means coverage is fragmented by design. For GAA specifically, some fixtures sit with free-to-air broadcasters, others with subscription broadcasters, and others again with the association's own streaming platform.

The practical consequence: anyone promising every match in one place at a low price is either mistaken about what they have bought or is not being straight with you.

Questions to ask before you pay

Which specific competitions are you licensed to carry?
Does that cover the group stages, the knockout stages, or both?
Is the coverage live, or delayed?
What happens on a fixture you are not licensed for — is it simply absent?
